The IX - Letting the Readers Speak
Here's a cross section of what readers think about the IX
*******
"The
IX" is a well researched, well thought out, and skillfully told novel by
an author whose military background is obvious. Warriors from various eras on
Earth - the 9th Roman legion and its Scottish adversaries, 19th century U.S.
cavalry and native American foes, and a modern special forces team - are
transported in time and space to a faraway planet to become the last-ditch
military force for a highly technological society that is under siege from what
at first appears to be a mindless Horde of energy-sapping demons...but what it
most appealing is the portrayal of the warrior ethos, which comes through loud
and clear. Brave men, without complaint (except for a few treacherous snakes),
doing hard, dangerous jobs are shown at their best, regardless of era.

A
well executed combat story with an intriguing premise and interesting
characters. I didn't know how the author would pull elite soldiers from
different time periods and cultures together but he did this well
*******
The writers knowledge and skill make the many battle
scenes come to life.
It isn't 'till we are nearing the denouement that we find out how the "horde" came into existence.
Worth a read if you are a sci-fi fan and a fan of combat stories. I can see this being made into a game.

Author
Andrew Weston blends history, action, adventure, fantasy, science-fiction and a
spectacular story line in his epic tale...The IX.
An advanced civilization faces annihilation from a horde of monstrous aliens intent on destroying all mankind. Three armies from different times on earth are chosen at the time of their deaths and are spirited away to another planet. There they will unite and use their military strategies and special resources to fight against this seemly unstoppable nemesis.
I can see this as the next science-fiction blockbuster movie, or better yet, a television series. I did not want the story to end, and like many other books, I will read it again!

Wow.
I wish this had not ended. The book left me wanted more. Can anyone say
blockbuster film? The writer never misses a beat in keeping an entertaining and
thrilling plot.

If
you're looking for a rich, complex and compelling story, then look no farther
than Andrew Weston's "The IX."
The pulling of soldiers from unique time periods and cultures added a lot of depth to the book. Furthermore, Weston did well with each of the cultures, having the different characters respond in situations to ways that felt culturally appropriate.
I've often felt that the true measure of a hero is not just in their 'heroic deeds,' but in how interesting and difficult their villains are to face. The evil hoard in this book was not only a formidable foe, but it was an interesting creation all on its own. One part horror creatures, one part old-school evil aliens, the antagonists in this book were well thought out and formed.
The different characters were engaging and interesting, which is hard to do when you have as many as Weston has in this work. The battle tactics felt real and practical. Overall, this was an enjoyable and fun read. Fans of TV shows like 'Warehouse 13' and 'Supernatural,' and the film 'Timeline' should definitely check out this book!

The use of short initial chapters to introduce the
main characters maintains the reader's interest and a need to know what's going
to happen next.
Throughout the story there are various references back to 'IX' which are cleverly crafted and make the title much more than a reference to Roman legend.
At about the halfway point you are suddenly allowed in to the minds of 'the enemy' which is an unexpected but satisfying shift in the protagonists' viewpoints.
We would strongly recommend this book to any fan of adventure stories, not just sci-fi and agree that it would form the basis for a successful feature film.
Look forward to more from this talented author.

I
really did enjoy The IX. Take 'The Expendable' general idea and add a real plot
with actual twist and turns, more adventure, a well depicted characters' development,
and you get a super book full of suspense.
I wouldn't surprise if it'll become a great movie soon

Excellent
plot, you will definitely feel like you got an episode of Star Trek, Star Wars,
and the Annals of Military History, past and present, fused into one
tremendous, free flowing, fast moving, action packed, thrilling, exhilarating,
breathtaking, roller-coaster, epic confrontation of good versus evil.

It's only the end of January, but let there be no
doubt that I seriously do not anticipate reading a better book in 2015. This
book has it all. It crosses genre-boundaries, has characters who you can
despise, characters who you can love, and characters who you wonder whether or
not you could tolerate / stand them / put up with them very long in real life.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this magnificent book. I look forward to reading
more from Mr. Weston in the future. He clearly has quite a clever mind that is
able to bring his background knowledge about the military and law enforcement
to form a harmonious relationship with his creative talents.

This one is a must-read for 2015. Obviously, and
anyone who enjoys sci-fi, fantasy, military, humanity at its best and humanity
at its worst, will enjoy this book. I've got to say that I think all people
from age 12 to age 100 will find this book enormously entertaining. This book
definitely should be made into a movie.
