The IX

Crossing genre boundaries

It's often been said that fans of one particular genre can be very hard to please when they take a peek into something different. Perhaps, nowhere is this more evident than when we look at the different tastes enjoyed by adherents of Science Fiction & Fantasy.

The consensus is, that sci-fi has gone stale in recent years, that its lost its lustre. Indeed, I read a recent article where a very well known and established fantasy author who was itching to write a science fiction novel openly admitted he was advised by friends and agents to steer away from the subject, or suffer the consequences.

Have you heard something similar?

That is why I have great delight in announcing that The IX managed to reach the No 11 slot on the most popular blogs for March with the most venerable Black Gate

As you know, Black Gate is the No1 site for fans of Fantasy Literature.
To think that the post by Fletcher Vredenburgh attracted such attention is a great honour, so, on behalf of The IX and the team at Perseid Press, I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you for such wonderful support.

You can find details of all the posts on their list here:

And of course, if YOU want to find out more about the historical Sci-Fi epic that is The IX
You know what to do.

Roman legionnaires, far from home, lost in the mists of Caledonia.

A  US cavalry company, engaged on a special mission, vital to the peace treaty proposed by Presidential candidate Abraham Lincoln.

A twenty-first century Special Forces unit, desperate to prevent a nuclear catastrophe.

From vastly different backgrounds, these soldiers are united when they are snatched away from Earth at the moment of their passing. Thinking they may have been granted a reprieve, imagine their horror when they discover they have been transported to a failing planet on the far side of the galaxy, where they are given a simple ultimatum. Fight or die. Against all odds, this group of misfits manages to turn the tide against a relentless foe, only to discover the true cost of victory might exact a price they are unwilling to pay.

How far would you be willing to go to stay alive?

The IX. Sometimes, death is only the beginning of the adventure.
